How Will Artificial Intelligence Develop in 2017?

Artificial Intelligence will continue to trend in many different sectors in 2017. Learn how we’ll use AI in new ways this year.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) isn’t just for creepy robots on TV anymore: it’s the hot topic of the moment. In 2017, AI is everywhere, from the games we play to our phone’s smart assistants. It’s becoming less of a mystical technology from a far-off time, and is transforming into a technology with use in many different fields. Here, we’ll talk about five of the trends we think we’ll see in AI this year.

As artificial intelligence continues to mean that the only Internet-connected things aren’t phones, computers, and tablets, your Wi-Fi needs to be speedier than ever. Use DNFDR’s Wi-Fi Check feature to make sure that the speed of your network is as fast as possible. Click here to test your network’s speed:

  1. Smart apps will become (more of) a reality.

While smart apps have already become more common, this year, we think that more businesses will use AI to give customers better shopping experiences using collected data. In addition, voice interfaces like Siri and Alexa will improve, making it that much simpler for users to interact with them.

  1. Health care will be digitized.

We think that AI can help digitize medical records that will help healthcare workers provide better care. These medical records, and the data collected from them, can give those in healthcare better ideas about care for individuals and groups.

  1. AI software will help farmers make good choices.

While we of course worry about the security of the dreaded drones, these tools can also provide useful services. For example, drones can monitor farmers’ crops, and AI software can use their monitoring to process data and help farmers make decisions.

  1. National security will utilize artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence will change the way that our nation’s security is handled. AI can help countries protect their borders, electrical grids, and soft infrastructure, just to name a few.

  1. More jobs will become automated.

In past years, many worried that AI would take total control of the job market, and give human workers no way to earn their living. This isn’t totally false, however — it is likely to happen in some capacity. This year, we might see jobs in fields like trucking, taxis, and manufacturing be taken over by AI robots with autonomous navigation controls. This isn’t entirely a bad thing, either: dangerous and impractical jobs can be replaced with AI robots, too. However, as AI replaces certain jobs, new jobs will crop up for humans in response.
