Twitter Launches Night Mode for Android Users

Twitter is one of the most popular social media apps around, with some users updating their feeds dozens of times of day. But, like any popular app, Twitter has its share of complaints.

One of the most commonly noted problems with Twitter was that it was hard to see it at night. Its bright white interface was too hard to look at for very long, meaning that users preferred using Twitter during the day. Plenty of third-party apps made Twitter more night-vision friendly, but the official app itself didn’t offer anything to make reading and late-night posting easier for users.

But recently, Twitter rolled out a new night mode feature exclusively for Android. When you turn on the night mode feature, Twitter’s white interface changes into a deep blue or, as some users see it, into a dark grey.

You can’t set a timer for Night Mode to turn on or off. It also doesn’t turn on automatically after a certain hour of the day and it doesn’t function in connection with your phone’s brightness. Aside from lacking automatic features, Twitter’s night mode isn’t hard to use. Here’s how to turn it on.

  1. Open the Twitter app on your smartphone.
  2. Your app will have one of two options: either a navigation menu icon made up of three blue lines or profile icon.
  3. Click whichever icon you have on your app.
  4. You will see a bar that says “Night Mode” with a slider next to it.
  5. To enable Night Mode, turn the slider to “On.”
  6. If you want to turn Night Mode off, repeat steps 1 through 4 and then toggle the slider to “Off.” Of course, you can also leave Night Mode on all the time if you prefer the way it looks.
