Some of the best deals on computers, TVs, phones, and many other technical devices can be found throughout Q4 of any business year. With that said, let’s take a look at some of the best days of the year for techies!

Black Friday
Of course Black Friday is the first date that comes to mind when dealing with sales of any kind! Retailers are making their big push into the holiday season so their end of the year sales numbers look as strong as possible. For consumers, there are both apps and websites dedicated just to the sales that are available on this date. If they’re willing to get to a store at 5AM (or sometimes even earlier), techies can snag themselves some great buys.

Cyber Monday
For those who prefer not to camp out to get one of the three available Xbox One’s on sale for $99, Cyber Monday offers an excellent alternative. Supplies are not nearly as limited, and the stores to choose from are greater. Between Amazon, eBay, NewEgg, TigerDirect, and Woot alone, techies can compare and contrast both performance specs and prices of the items on their wish list.

Prime Day
Speaking of online retailers, Prime Day on Amazon is another day to grab fantastic deals on technology. From Amazon exclusive devices to PCs and TVs, Amazon drops the prices on much of their inventory for their exclusive 24-hour sale. This year’s Prime Day, July 12th, was the biggest day in the history of Amazon, so expect it to be back and bigger than ever next year.

Saturday Before Father’s Day
Retailers seem to discount techie goodies before father’s day, assuming that many dads out there are techies. Here’s the thing; even if a dad in your life isn’t a techie, but you are, you can still score some great deals. If you’ve been looking longingly at a 4K TV to watch Netflix content on, I’m sure “dad” could use one of those!

First Day of E3
E3 is the mecca of technology, and going through E3 is like waking up on Christmas morning for adults who love technology. Video games, mobile devices, and advances in AI (artificial intelligence) or AR (augmented reality) are all revealed at E3 throughout the course of the event. That first day, when techies get to see what vendors have been planning for over a year, isn’t like much else.

<![CDATA[Why You Should be Watching the Hottest US Tech Startups]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/watching-hottest-us-tech-startups/ Fri, 07 Oct 2016 12:25:29 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=4461 Many people think that tech startups stopped being incredibly profitable when the “dot com” bubble burst. However, that’s simply not the case. If you think about it, many startups have simply moved from a “web only” focus to now include smartphones, tablets, and up-and-coming virtual reality (or augmented reality) hardware and software. With this in mind, let’s take a look at some of the hottest tech startups around today!

Namely
This New York based startup is aiming to make payroll, benefits, and talent management easier for companies. Used by companies like The Motley Fool, Lending Home, and McKinney, Namely is starting to gain recognition across industries such as IT, healthcare, and customer service. By having an Open API, it is also highly flexible and easily customizable to any business’s needs.

Postmates
While Amazon is attempting to make same-day delivery a major feature of Amazon Prime, Postmates is making it available now. If you take the convenience of Uber coupled with the idea of on-demand delivery, you get Postmates! This tech startup connects customers with local couriers, so if you want dinner from your favorite restaurant, and they don’t deliver, Postmates will be your go-to!

IrisVR
If you’re into VR or AR technology, you’ve likely heard of HTC, Sony, and Oculus, but you may not have heard of IrisVR. This startup offers users the ability to create virtual reality experiences for their clients. They currently offer two main products: Scope, which renders images into a panoramic format, and Prospect, which is the VR software building platform, compatible with both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.

Slack
Perhaps the most popular tech startup on this list, Slack is changing the way small businesses work and communicate. Slack allows its users to create channels (such as #IT or #Marketing), then post to that channel so everyone subscribed can see what is going on. It also allows for private channels and direct messaging, so not all communication needs to be public. It also allows for attachments to be uploaded to channels, making it an excellent project management tool. It is accessible from both the web and via their app on mobile devices.
