Whether they’re stolen by pickpocketing, or grabbing it when someone isn’t looking, these phone thefts can cause a lot of stress. At first, the reasoning behind phone theft sounds rather odd: why would someone steal a phone if you’re just going to discontinue the service after it has been taken? Well, there are a few motives behind the theft of a cellular device.

However, if you enable the anti-theft feature before your phone is stolen, you’ll be able to track, block, locate user device, and even erase all of your data remotely in case of loss or theft. With just the push of a button, all confidential material will be eradicated from your phone, and you will no longer be vulnerable to data infiltration. Stealing Your Data

Losing your phone can be especially catastrophic if you have confidential material stored in it. As a result, it is imperative that you store all of your precious information in a cloud service, and back up your phone regularly. You should be prepared to erase all data on your phone if you know your phone has been stolen.

The Parts are Valuable

Thieves love smartphones that don’t have cracks in them. A solid, clear, scratch-less phone screen can go on the black market for a solid amount of money. There are also removable SIM cards that can be sold as well, besides other parts. The phone itself can also be reset to its factory settings and then sold, all for a fraction of the original retail price, while the thief still makes a hefty profit.

The Various Functions of the Phone

There are several applications and functions on a cellular device — you don’t necessarily need texting or mobile service to perform many of the useful tools that come with the cell phone. For instance, your device can serve as a calendar, alarm clock, and many others. Plus, there are endless games that can be played on a smartphone, so a thief will have no shortage of fun if they get their hands on your device.

Now that we use our phones for almost everything — such as online shopping, taking and sharing photos, and sending emails — we have a lot of sensitive data stored on our phones that needs to be protected.

Luckily, if you have the DFNDR app installed on your device, and have enabled the Anti-Theft feature, you won’t have to worry about someone else accessing your personal data. With this features enabled, you can perform various tools remotely, all through your Google registration.

The Anti-Theft feature includes to lock down your device remotely, find your phone’s location on a map, activate a loud alarm to find it nearby, and more. If you are using your Android device, click here for a shortcut to activate the feature:

How to Protect Your Device with Anti-Theft

To remote control your device and stop thieves from accessing your apps and media files, you should have enabled the DFNDR’s Anti-Theft feature previously.

Activate Anti-theft02
To locate your device on a computer, visit my.psafe.com and enter your Google account information for the initial activation of the anti-theft features. Through the website you can remotely sound an alarm to audibly find your phone, erase all data, locate and lock your device, or find out if your SIM card has been tampered with. If the unit is connected to the Internet and has a charged battery, you can see the location of your phone. Remember, it’s important not to cancel your SIM card before you try to access these tools.

To access the anti-theft features on the website, click the “+” button in the bottom right-hand corner. Your screen should display, from top to bottom, the following options: “remove,” “trigger an alarm,” “remove data,” “block device screen,” and “find.” Each of these functions are designed to give greater security to the user and provide them with the precise location of their device when connected.

If your device appears to be offline or disconnected with no Internet connection, don’t fret. You can activate the actions “block device screen,” “remove data,” and “trigger an alarm” so that as soon as your phone is turned on and/or the Internet connection is restored, your actions will push through. If you are online, you will follow the same steps, but instead the message will say, “command sent to the device,” “successfully deleted data,” or “successfully locked” whenever the action is completed.

It’s important to note that you should contact the police immediately if you can locate your stolen phone through DFNDR’s Anti-Theft feature. Do not try to obtain your stolen device without police officials. You want your device to remain safe — but it’s important that you’re safe, too.
