But, like anything, it can sometimes be difficult to remember the password you’ve created. If you’re worried about your phone staying locked if you forget your password, don’t be. You can use a text message-based unlocking method to retrieve your phone. Here, we’ll talk about how to use SMS Bypass — an app that lets you unlock your phone with a text message from a friend’s phone.

Rooting Your Android
Before you can use the SMS Bypass app, you need to root your phone. Rooting means you can run certain commands and give enhanced privileges to run certain apps on your phone. To root your phone, you can install the Superuser app or flash a custom ROM (a technique that is beyond the depth of many Android users).

Unlocking with the SMS Bypass app
To use this retrieval method, you need to have the Android 4.0 system or above.
1. To start, download the SMS Bypass app onto your Android. The app costs a little more than $2 US dollars.
2. Once the app has downloaded, open it. You need to give the app permission to be a permanent Superuser — or root access to your phone.
3. Set your secret code on the app. The set code in SMS Bypass is 1234, but you can change the code to something that you can remember more easily.
4. Enable the remote password on the setting tab in the SMS Bypass app.
6. Now you’ll be able to bypass login to your phone by using the code. To access your locked phone, you need to find another phone to use. From that phone, send the secret code in the following format: “1234 reset.” (Or, if you’ve changed the code on the SMS Bypass app, whichever numbers you’ve chosen followed by the word “reset”).

Want to stop another kind of phone emergency? Make sure your phone doesn’t get infected with viruses by downloading PSafe Total. PSafe’s Anti-virus feature protects you from intruders 24/7 by scanning your phone’s SD card and files regularly so that no one will be able to hack into your system without detection.

<![CDATA[Make Reading Easier with High Contrast Texts]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/make-reading-easier-high-contrast-texts/ Fri, 09 Sep 2016 21:48:46 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=3648 Why You Might Want to Learn About This

When you are straining your eyes on a daily basis by constantly squinting at tiny texts, you probably do not consider that to be an ideal situation. Furthermore, if you are glued to your phone all day long, whether it is by choice or circumstance, it is unhealthy for your eyes to undergo such stress. It is highly recommended that you take some action! You have many options at your disposal to alleviate this discomfort, but the one we will be focusing on is high contrast text.

Wait, What is High Contrast Text?

Simply put, setting your phone to high contrast text mode will allow you to read your texts with more ease. No, it does not make the font bigger. Instead, it outlines lighter colored words in black so that the items are more distinguishable. For example, texts in white will be traced with black, which will be especially useful for those who are visually impaired in lessening the difficulty in reading. The central concept is that the colors adjust so that it contrasts with the background. What makes this feature even more notable is that it is as easy to set up as it helps you to read!

Here Are a Few Short Steps to Enable High Contrast Texts.

  1. Before we begin, make sure that your Android is 5.0 or higher.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll down until you find Accessibility.
  4. Select Vision.
  5. Check the box next to high contrast text.
  6. Enjoy the new feature!

A Side Note.

Although some devices may have slightly different steps, the general instructions are the same! It should also be noted that this feature is considered to be experimental so its results will not always be consistent. Nevertheless, this feature performs reliably well in achieving the goal of better reading. In the unfortunate occasion that it fails to meet your expectations, you can simply uncheck the box next to high contrast text.

That doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be nice to still be able to text over the computer. Luckily, there are several programs that let you send text to your contacts’ phones through your computer desktop. Here are three of our favorites.

MightyText

MightyText is a favorite among users because it not only allows you to text from your computer, you can also schedule messages, text from Gmail, and check your phone’s battery level on your PC. First, you need to install MightyText on both your phone and your computer for it to work properly. Next, link your computer and your phone by creating an account. Make sure you sign in using the same email account on the computer and phone versions of the app. After that, you’re all set to start using MightyText to send messages from your computer.

DeskSMS

DeskSMS isn’t limited to a single computer, but rather it lets you send and receive texts wherever you can open a browser. Using this app, you can send and receive text messages in your email as well as receive notifications in your Chrome or Firefox browser. To set up MightyText you first install the app on your phone and give it permissions. Next, you can authenticate your Google account, so the app has permission to send your texts as chats, emails, or notifications in the system.

AirDroid

Like the other two apps, AirDroid lets you send and receive text messages on multiple screens and devices. To use it, you first want to download AirDroid both onto your computer and your phone. After you follow the instructions from the set-up wizard, the system will ask you to “Sign Up” for an account. Once you’ve done that, open the app on your Android and sign in again. A prompt on your phone will take you through the last steps of set-up, and then you’ll be ready to text on your computer.

<![CDATA[Your Guide to Sending a Delayed Text Message on Android]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/guide-sending-delayed-text-message-android/ Wed, 10 Aug 2016 22:35:02 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=2823 Technology often provides us with instant access to complete tasks with ease at the touch of our fingertips. But what if it’s not instant access you need, but instead, delayed access? Say you’re at work and you remember that your husband is supposed to pick up the dry cleaning on his way home. You want to let him know now before you forget again, but he’s in a big meeting so calling him or sending a text right now just isn’t feasible.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could cue up that important text to ensure that it will be sent to him promptly at 1:15PM, when you know he’ll be out of his meeting and on his way to lunch? As it turns out, that’s not that lofty of a dream; in fact, many Android phones already possess the capability of this action. The trick is knowing how to do it. We’re here to teach you exactly that.

A few devices that run on Android actually already have built-in capabilities for sending SMS messages at a later date or time. For example, most Samsung phones — like the Samsung Galaxy S5 — have this feature. When you open up the “Messages” app on your phone, start a new message and type in your contact’s name or number and the message you wish to send to them.

You’ll notice that at the top of the message screen, there are three vertical dots. Tap on them to bring up a menu of options. In that menu, select “Schedule Message.” From here, you can type in the time and date that you wish to send this message on. Now, where the “Send” button usually is, you’ll instead see an image of a clock. This means that your message is ready to be scheduled to send at your chosen date and time. If you press and hold on to the message, you’ll also have options to send now, edit it, or cancel it, too.

Pretty simple, right? Well, not if your Android smartphone doesn’t have the option for this handy trick. If that’s the case, then fear not; there’s an app (well, many apps) for that! A few of the most popular and well-received apps for scheduling SMS messages include:

  • Text Later. This free app sends SMS messages at any time or date you choose. It also features a “wake lock” option that ensures that all scheduled messages are sent, even if your device is in a CPU idle sleep state.
  • Schedule SMS: Send it Later. This is yet another free app that schedules SMS messages, with a clean and user-friendly interface. All scheduled messages are saved in any easy-to-find place.
  • SMS Scheduler. Like the others listed, this free app lets you schedule text messages in advance. It also allows you the opportunity to choose the frequency of sending messages — be it every five minutes or every hour.

<![CDATA[How to Block Unwanted Text Messages on Android]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/block-unwanted-text-messages-android/ Mon, 25 Jul 2016 20:05:35 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=2372 Everyone knows a few people that they fervently wish wouldn’t contact them again. Fortunately, in an age where we are more connected than ever, there are plenty of tools at your disposal for preventing certain people from reaching out to you. Each social media platform has its own ways to block contacts, but here, we’ll discuss the best ways to say goodbye to those sending you unwanted text messages, be it an ex, a telemarketer or simply a random number that won’t cease and desist.

Add to Spam

One of the best ways to keep people from texting you is to add their contact to a spam list. To do so, go to your list of text messages. From there, hold the message coming from the unwanted number down. This will prompt a menu with three options, the bottom one being “Add to spam numbers.” Once selected, you will have to click “Ok” to verify and then this number can no longer reach you.

Talk to Your Service

Every carrier service has internal methods for blocking numbers on individual devices. If you really want to make sure someone can’t reach you, try contacting your carrier. First, go to the carrier’s website. Each website is configured slightly differently, but almost all of them have a tab that lets you block texts and emails. If you can’t navigate the site easily, you can always give your carrier’s customer service hotline a call, and they will happily block the number or email for you.

SMS Blocking App

If these other options don’t cut it, you can download an app specifically to remove a contact. There are a number of SMS blocking apps that appear when searching “SMS block” in the Google Play store. Most apps are similar in build, but each is slightly different, so be sure to read each app’s description before downloading and using.

With most of these apps, you can either block unknown numbers or block specific numbers. To block unknown numbers, go to “Settings” and select “Unknown Numbers.” To block specific numbers, you can choose messages from your inbox or text messages and request that the app block that specific contact. This feature also allows you to type in a number and manually block that specific person.

If you have more concerns about security on your device, make sure you check out PSafe Total which features a number of security features to make sure that your device is totally private.
