But we haven’t seen all of the possibilities available for this technology yet — more exciting tech is still to come. LG’s new floating Bluetooth speaker — called “Levitating Portable Speaker” — was unveiled in early 2017 and does something most other Bluetooth technologies don’t: it levitates in mid-air. Cool, right? The following will answer some of the questions you may have about this incredible speaker.

Is LG’s product the first speaker that floats?
No. Many companies have been experimenting with these types of mid-air Bluetooth speakers for years now. LG is getting so much buzz for its speaker because it’s the first well-known electronics brand to make a product like this one.

Why did LG make this speaker?
LG says they wanted to create a piece of technology that was attractive and innovative.

How does the Levitating Portable Speaker work?
The speaker itself, a small white egg, floats over a base called the Levitation Station. The floating effect happens because the Levitation Station holds electromagnetics to make the speaker float.

Is the product itself any good?
The speaker offers 360-degree sound. This means that you can listen to it clearly, no matter where you are in the house. The speaker alone might not provide exceptional sound, so the Levitation Station also comes outfitted with a subwoofer for deep bass supplemental sound. The product itself also has a long battery life: LG promises 10 hours. You’ll know when the speaker is out of battery, too, because the floating speaker descends to the Levitation Station.

What about other features?
The speaker is water-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about listening to it outside or in the bathroom. Another feature that will likely prove popular (as more and more devices become Bluetooth-enabled) is the speaker’s ability to connect to more than one Bluetooth device at once. This capability is known as Multipoint technology.

How much does a Levitating Portable Speaker cost?
LG hasn’t released the product or the product’s estimated price yet, so the final costs remain to be seen. However, devices like this one typically range from $100 to $1,000, so it’s not easy to predict where LG might price their product within this range. As to how many people will be interested in purchasing a floating Bluetooth speaker, it is still unknown. The technology certainly sounds cool, but if it is too expensive, it will mostly likely turn many potential users away.

<![CDATA[Samsung vs. BlackBerry: Which Has Better Security Updates?]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/samsung-vs-blackberry-better-security-updates/ Mon, 12 Dec 2016 19:00:01 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=6325 When Google learns of a new Android vulnerability or a malicious threat, they act quickly by offering a new security patch to help fix or prevent any issues. While many devices, especially Nexus devices, will receive the latest Android security patches, many manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola, and LG are not required to pass on the latest security updates to their customers, especially in a timely manner. Further, even if these security updates are passed on, customers may choose to opt out of automatic updates, and delay the installation of crucial software updates and security patches.

BlackBerry is Ahead of the Game

However, you may be surprised to learn that BlackBerry, despite its demise in the smartphone world, has been offering the latest Android security patches at a faster rate than its competitors, such as Samsung. Since BlackBerry launched its first smartphone, it has been strongly committed to device security. BlackBerry renewed, or reaffirmed, this commitment when they launched the Android operating system on their devices.

Samsung, on the other hand, doesn’t issue immediate security updates, and may take more than a month to pass on the updates to its customers. They can also choose to not pass on security updates, though Samsung tends to be better about that than other leading manufacturers. Samsung, especially now that BlackBerry has officially decided to step out of the smartphone world, should become more devoted to timely and frequent Android security updates.

How to Protect Your Device

Firstly, make sure that your smartphone is receiving the latest security and software updates for Android. For more than a year, Google has released monthly security updates. Check out the Android Security Bulletin to ensure that you have received these monthly updates, and if you haven’t, make sure that your phone receives them. If you are using an older operating system, it may be necessary to upgrade your phone in order to receive the latest security updates. While this may seem like an inconvenience, it is a step that must be taken if you want to secure your device and personal information.

Secondly, download antivirus software to further secure your device against any possible security threats. That way, you can spend less time worrying about timely manufacturer security updates. Download PSafe Total for unbeatable, 24/7 antivirus protection for your smartphone: it is AV-Test certified and has been rated one of the best antivirus apps in the world.

<![CDATA[Find out Which Android is the Safest to Use]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/find-android-safest-use/ Thu, 24 Nov 2016 00:00:36 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=6017 There are plenty of cellphones produced for Android, like those by HTC, LG, Motorola, and Samsung. However, some Android phones are safer to use than others. According to one security firm, Nexus and Samsung tend to produce the safest phones.

Gal Beniamini, a Duo Labs security researcher, revealed that 60% of Android smartphones using a Qualcomm processor are susceptible to an attack. While this doesn’t mean that it will happen, these devices do have a higher likelihood of a security attack. The reason for this is that other companies do not bother to install the monthly Android security patch that has been issued. Android phones that do not receive the patch do not receive valuable updates that can prevent security issues.

With all of this in mind, how can you keep your phone safe, especially if you have a device not receiving security updates? The following are some ways you can protect your device from security threats.

Always Install the Latest Security Updates

Always update your phone with the latest security patch. These installations won’t provide your Android phone with new features, but they will help prevent any security issues. Once someone identifies a way that hackers can exploit an Android weakness, the company can create a way to block it. If you ignore the new security patch, you might be setting yourself up for a disaster.

Install PSafe Total

Viruses and malware happen. However, there are precautions you can take. Don’t leave your phone unprotected while looking online for the best shopping deals. Instead, turn to PSafe Total for complete antivirus protection. PSafe Total will allow you to browse online without worry — and keep all of your private information safe.

It’s About Trust

Only install apps from companies you can trust. Also, only install apps from the Google Play Store. While sneaky viruses or malware can still find their way into apps from the Play store, it doesn’t often happen with big name companies. If an app only has a handful of reviews, and just as many downloads, don’t download it. It isn’t worth the risk.

Commonsense Safety

Do you ever leave your phone at your desk? What about on the table when your roommates are home? What if you lost your phone or have a snoopy coworker? Set up a lockscreen on your phone so you can keep your texts, images, and personal information for your eyes only. You can also use PSafe Total to set up password protection on your photo album. You can never be too careful when it comes to your personal information.

<![CDATA[New LG V20 Smartphone: What We Know and What to Expect]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/new-lg-v20-smartphone-know-expect/ Mon, 26 Sep 2016 21:54:14 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=4152 Cell phone technology is improving by the day. It seems like just yesterday the Motorola Razor was at the top of the market. Well, over 8 years have passed since then, and the innovation has yet to cease.

The LG V20 is a paradigm of the ever improving cell phone technology. With a high tech dual camera lens, military grade drop protection and Android Nouget 7.0, the LG V20 is creating quite the buzz in the world of cellular devices.

Last year, the LG V10 impressed users with its high functioning capabilities, but its bulky design was enough to turn away a high volume of potential customers.

With a new, shiny black rubbery texture and a vibrant looking exterior made of aluminum alloy, this phone is going to be so beautiful you’re going to want to frame it and hang it in your kitchen.

LG has also taken advantage of new materials to make the phone lighter and more efficient. The top and the bottom of the phone appear to be metal, but they are actually made of a material called Silicone Polycarbonate, which is a very durable type of plastic. According to LG, this new form of plastic can absorb shocks 20 percent better than the LG V10.

LG promises a 20 percent more efficient battery life in the V20 compared to the V10. It includes fast charging, so juicing up your phone should be a breeze.

The camera on the V20 will basically antiquate the usage of a selfie stick. The selfie camera in the phone has a wide angle mode that is optimal for selfie lovers. Plus, the sets of dual lenses in the front and back combine to make the picture quality nearly HD.

LG also flaunts the Android Nouget 7.0 system that will come with the V20. This is apparently Google’s most efficient operating system yet that will allow users to surf their phones at laser fast speeds.

In sum, you should expect nothing but great things from the LG V20. The phone has a demanding reputation to live up to, but with its top of the line operating system and sleek design, any customer should be confident in their purchase of the LG V20.

<![CDATA[How To Block Any Unwanted Calls on Android]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/block-unwanted-calls-android/ Mon, 18 Jul 2016 19:17:03 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=2228 Are you sick of having to decline calls from unknown numbers on a daily basis? Wouldn’t it be so much better to block a number so you’ll never need to hear from them again? You’re absolutely right it would! To rid yourself of the hassle of telemarketers and irritating callers, we’ve compiled a simple guide to blocking numbers on your specific Android phone.

Samsung Phones

You have an Auto-Reject list that you can access by first tapping the Phone icon on your home screen. After opening the list, select the number you want to block. When the details appear on the screen, click the “More” option, which should appear on the top right hand corner. An option to Add to Auto-Reject List should appear, and by tapping that, the desired number should be added to the blocked list.

LG Phones

Just like with Samsung model phones, you can create a Call Reject list on your LG Android phone. First, tap the phone icon on the home screen. Next, tap the three dots that appear in the right hand corner. A menu should pop up which should entail a call settings option, which you should click. Afterwords, click “call reject” and then “reject calls from”. By tapping the plus icon, you can add any contact,or number from call logs or manual entry that you wish to avoid.

HTC Phones

On the Home Screen, tap the phone icon, and then swiping from the right you’ll see a call history appear. Hold down the number of which you wish to block for a long time and another menu should appear. Click on the option named ‘Block contact’ and then tap OK.

Hopefully after following these simple steps, you will not be receiving any more repeated unwelcome calls.
