It is one of the most popular maps apps on the market. Google Maps can help you find a place you have never been to before, discover interesting places to visit, or provide information about a shortcut to a place you travel to regularly, among many other features. The app also offers information on traffic and accidents, so you can adjust your route accordingly. Even so, Google Maps is about to become a whole lot more useful — as well as more social — thanks to its newest feature for Android devices.

How Google Maps’ New Feature Works

The new Google Maps feature is available to all Android users. It allows users to star, save, and share any place on the map with others. The three current categories are “Favorites,” “Want to Go,” and “Starred.” You can make your lists private, share them with select groups of people, or even make them public for the whole world to see.

The system has clearly been designed to create a social atmosphere on a site/app that is not typically considered to be a social media network. It makes it easy for people to share the name of, and directions to, a particular spot with others who they are planning to meet up with. It helps users to tell others about great things to see and do in any given city or local area. It can also help users explore their city by selecting which places of interest they haven’t seen yet. It makes it easy to move the places to a new folder as they visit the places in question.

Naturally, businesses are likely to find uses for this new feature, as well. It is great for promoting business places in different cities or highlighting great places to shop, eat, hang out, and more.

While not all of Google’s changes, updates, and new features have been welcomed by the general public, the new Google Maps feature is undoubtedly an upgrade that is sure to be appreciated by people from all walks of life. It is versatile, easy to use, and enables people to effectively categorize and share the names and addresses of important places. It can also help businesses and entrepreneurs easily share information that would be of use to the general public.

<![CDATA[A Quick How-to Guide and Overview of Android Auto]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/quick-guide-overview-android-auto/ Fri, 06 Jan 2017 23:00:35 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=6836 There is almost never a place nor time when it’s a bad idea to use your phone. Granted, texting or calling while driving is a big illegal no-no, but even that was solved with hands-free tech. Especially while cruising in your car, having access to your music library, GPS navigation, and the ability to make a quick call is convenient, if not essential. That’s why when Android Auto first came out last year, it helped to revolutionize a car’s infotainment system.

How does it work?

Like most good models, the Android Auto is a simple plug and play. You can use either your phone screen or your car display, as long as your vehicle is compatible. You can either use a microUSB cable to connect, or you can use the infotainment system your car comes with. After reviewing the Safety Notice and confirming the requisite Terms and Conditions section, you might be prompted to run updates if needed.

Making calls, checking directions, and listening to music is made easy.

If your car is compatible, one of the major benefits is not having to struggle with the tiny user interface of the phone. Using your phone directly is a distraction and likely a safety hazard. Even though Android Auto sets your phone to Bluetooth connection, ideally you have or are able to invest in a compatible vehicle. Android apps in your car leverage the easy-to-use touch screen, leaving you free to focus on the road.

Auto apps references Google maps for navigation should you need it, and makes calls and messaging easy to do. You won’t even have to distract yourself from the road by looking up a contact. Using Bluetooth and voice activation, you can initiate a call simply by requesting the information you need and commanding your phone to dial. Even in those instances where you have to look up information, the large display makes it easy to multitask and keep your eyes on the road.

When it comes to playing your favorite songs, Android Auto leaves apps like Spotify and Google Play Music available at your fingertips. It’ll either play custom playlists or else the music you have on your phone. One downside is that you won’t be able to sift through artists or particular albums, but then again, you shouldn’t be rummaging through your archives while driving anyway. For those who prefer podcasts, there are options for that as well with apps like Pocket Casts.

<![CDATA[How Google Can Help You Find Your Parked Car]]> https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/google-can-help-find-parked-car/ Tue, 06 Sep 2016 20:44:44 +0000 https://www.psafe.com/en/blog/?p=3451 The movie “Dude Where’s My Car” resonates with all drivers in some way. Everyone has experienced the hassle of scaling the mall parking lot looking for their seemingly lost car. Luckily, with this new app, Google enables you to find your car without even a click of a button.

While there is already an array of apps dedicated to finding lost cars available on the market, most of them require you to manually punch in your exact location. This can be very stressful, especially when you are in an unknown territory. With Google’s new technology, your phone will know when you left your vehicle. This app utilizes your device’s sensors, so it knows whenever you are in a moving vehicle based upon the speed provided by your GPS. Thus, whenever you leave your vehicle, your phone will automatically know your exact location without your help.

How do I Access This App?

 1. Open Google Google Now. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen. You should be able to locate an icon that resembles a magic wand. Click on it.
 2. Click on the customize menu. Then locate the “everything else” option, and click on “How do you usually commute?”
 3. Click on “Driving.”

Now, you should have the “Parking Card” app available.

 1. A parking location card should show up in Google Now. Press the Menu icon on the card.
 2. Answer a series of questions that will allow you to customize when you see the card.

Often times, users complain that these parking cards pop up even when they’re not driving. As a result, it can be a hassle constantly exiting out of these parking card pop-ups. To get rid of the parking cards:

 1. When a parking card arises, touch the Menu icon
 2. Press “No” when you are asked whether or not you want to continue receiving these notifications.
