Here Are the Big Plans for Fitbit in 2017
Fitbit certainly made some noise in 2016, but they are unveiling even bigger plans for 2017. Find out more about their plans for the year now.
Fitbit is a gadget you wear on your wrist to help track and maintain your physical health on a daily basis. Specifically, Fitbit monitors the number of steps that you take in a day, your heart rate, your sleep quality, and other metrics to help gauge your health and fitness levels.
Fitbits are currently very popular, and they seem to do it all — for your health, at least. However, Fitbit is looking to expand its share of the smartwatch market this year, adding additional features that will further promote health and wellness as well as implementing an app store for its users. These are exciting additions to the Fitbit world, especially for those who are devoted users.

Fitbit is Creating an App Store
By implementing an app store, Fitbit will help their customers to engage with a variety of other companies, unifying users and firms and helping expand their businesses — all while making people fitter and more health-conscious. Obviously, this is mutually beneficial for both the customers and the companies.
Fitbit will also receive an alternative revenue source. Aside from sales of the watch itself and the services it alone provides, Fitbit will now have a stream of income from user purchases in their app store. This will help Fitbit grow as a company, in addition to making their products more efficient as well as cheaper for their customer base, which is good news for Fitbit fans.
This app store will also undoubtedly make the app market more competitive. Specifically, Fitbit will be competing with Apple and Android as they all strive to produce and offer the best apps on the market. If Fitbit wishes to retain its users, it will have to develop services that are not already offered by other app markets, which may prove to be a challenge, as they’re somewhat late to the game.
Fitbit’s Other Plans for 2017
Aside from the app store, Fitbit is also teaming up with Peloton, VirZoom, and Habit so customers can receive customized nutrition plans. These companies plan to help develop a bike-riding virtual reality game as a more entertaining way for users to workout.
Fitbit is also planning on implementing the UnitedHealthCare Motion wellness program. This program helps employers provide monetary compensation to employees to help incentivize them to work out and exercise. You may even know someone who has already taken advantage of this benefit! It’s certainly a great motivator for otherwise busy employees to get, and stay, healthy.
